Beginning January 1, 2021 each Licensed Psychologist in NY State must complete 36 hours of approved continuing education courses for each triennial registration period. All courses must be taken from psychology providers approved by the State Education Department, on the basis of an application, fee and the requirements in Education Law and Commissioner’s Regulations. Only courses taken from approved providers on or after January 1, 2021 are acceptable.

NY State Education Department did not grandfather in any APA-approved psychology CE sponsors for the purpose of fulfilling the NY State Psychology license CE requirements. NYSAN has initiated outreach to our national neuropsychology organizations to seek approval as CE providers in NYS. NYSAN is also preparing our own application, which will be submitted to NYSED by the end of December 2020. Please keep in mind that these things take time. For those whose NYS Psychology license is up for renewal from January to June 2021, we suggest that you obtain CE credits from one of the NYS approved providers of CE found on the NYS Board of Education websitehttp://www.op.nysed.gov/prof/psych/psychceproviderlist.htm

Answers to frequently asked questions about the CE requirements can be found here.
