“Private Practice Panel/Discussion”

Abstract:

This private practice panel consists of three neuropsychologists who have worked in private practice settings, either as their full-time career or in addition to their work in another setting. The goal of this panel is to provide others with the knowledge they would need to consider before entering a career in private practice for neuropsychology. As well, the panelists will discuss ways to help you sustain your practice throughout your career and considerations while planning for retirement or transitioning your role in the practice. The panel will also discuss forensic work within the private practice setting and how to use contract employees. The panelists also hope to provide the audience with resources to help them along this path. Questions will also guide this discussion so the group will help to lead the learning.

Learning Objectives:

  • 1)      Discuss common themes in private practice work
  • 2)      Prepare others for a career in private practice including information regarding the business of neuropsychology (i.e., contract employees)
  • 3)      Discuss options and considerations for selling your practice
  • 4)      Describe forensic options within private practice
