NYSAN Statement on Supporting Our Professional Community

Dear NYSAN Members,

The Board of the New York State Association of Neuropsychology (NYSAN) recognizes the challenges that psychologists and neuropsychologists face in an evolving professional landscape. Changes in policy and practice standards impact research, education, training, and clinical care, shaping how we serve our patients and communities.

NYSAN remains committed to fostering excellence in neuropsychology while supporting a strong and engaged professional community. We are dedicated to ensuring that all individuals pursuing careers in neuropsychology feel welcomed and encouraged to participate in NYSAN activities.

We urge students and trainees to have open discussions with their supervisors, training directors, and mentors regarding their education and professional development. NYSAN will continue to offer educational opportunities through webinars, conference presentations, and publications, ensuring our members have access to valuable resources on key topics in the field. We will also advocate for policies and practices grounded in scientific evidence and ethical standards to uphold the quality of care we provide.

In these uncertain times, we remain a resource for our members and will continue to share updates on policy changes affecting the field. Your input is invaluable, and we encourage you to engage in the following ways:

  • Share Your Experiences: Let us know how changes in the field are impacting your work. We welcome respectful discussions that strengthen our community.
  • Stay Informed and Involved: Follow NYSAN updates, explore relevant resources, and share helpful information with colleagues.
  • Contribute Your Expertise: Whether through mentoring, leading educational sessions, or contributing insights, your knowledge can help support fellow professionals and students.
  • Follow Our Advocacy and Outreach Efforts: NYSAN will continue to provide updates on important developments and guidance on navigating changes in the profession.

We recognize that this is a time of transition, and we remain committed to moving forward together.

Sincerely,
The NYSAN Board of Directors
